We were thrilled last week to welcome Warrington South MP, Andy Carter to BAS to show him around our workshop and tell him all about what we do. Our Owner and Managing Director, Bill, had met Mr Carter at a previous show and he was keen to learn more about our company and what we actually do, not knowing that a company like ours existed within his constituency.
Mr Carter began with a tour of our premises, so that he could meet the staff and talk to them about the roles they play in the services we offer. In the workshop he also asked to see some of the vehicles we were currently working on and he seemed very impressed by what we do, especially as he had no idea that these services were available for people living with disabilities and elderly people living in Warrington and the local area.
We also discussed with Mr Carter our proposed growth plans for the business and he listened to both our ideas and concerns in relation to this. Speaking in regard to this, Owner and MD Bill Bradley said “It was great to receive advice from Mr Carter with regards to our concerns/ideas for expansion, in particular the purchase of waste land behind the BAS premises and the issues we have had with this. He was also very keen in hearing about our ideas to expand our Apprenticeship and Trainee scheme, something which would benefit the young people of Warrington.”
Speaking on the MP’s visit, Operations Director Carl Birkin commented “Even though we have been in the local area for many years, it is surprising how many people still don’t know about us. This was a wonderful opportunity and experience to speak with Mr Carter and to let him see first hand who we are as a company and what we offer to the people of Warrington, particularly those who are elderly or living with disabilities. He seemed genuinely interested in what we do and it was a pleasure to be able to show him our business in action.”
